"The exhibition runs from November 29th, 2009 until January 22nd, 2010.
The opening reception is November 29th, 2009, from 1pm to 4pm
With eight artists across Canada, the Glenhyrst Art Gallery in Brantford, located next to Six Nations of the Grand River Territory and home to a large South Asian community, is the perfect backdrop for the exhibition “Crossing Lines: An Intercultural Dialogue”.
South Asians and the First Peoples’ communities epitomize the complexities of co-existence between Indigenous and non-Indigenous communities in Canada. While both communities are referred to as “Indians” their experiences and histories of racial and socio-economic marginalization differ widely.
Roy Caussy, Bonnie Devine, Ali Kazimi, Afshin Matlabi, Yudi Sewraj, Greg Staats, Ehren Bear Witness Thomas and Jeff Thomas reckon with the experience of loss and displacement and reflect on the ideology of reconciliation. The art works in the exhibition articulate the importance of engaging in dialogues with one another to better understand the multiple perspectives and histories that make up the contemporary Canadian society.
Jeff Thomas, artist and curator speaks about his landmark collaboration with Ali Kazimi on the film Shooting Indians: A Journey With Jeff Thomas, which is featured in the exhibition: Since Ali and I first met in 1984 and began our documentary road trip, the stimulant of identity politics has continued to evolve and some twenty five years later it is good to see that the film resonates with the public and new exhibition projects like "Crossing Lines: An Intercultural Dialogue"."

This was one of three tours offered at the Meeting of the Minds 2012 in San Francisco, CA.
Description:
Tour #1: Arts, Innovation and Sustainability Tour of Central San Francisco
This 1.5 hour walking tour will be lead by James Hanusa, Green Economy Advisor for Stakeholder Forum and New Initiatives for Burning Man Project.
The tour will start at the award winning, newly built San Francisco Public Utilities Commission headquarters, key features include onsite clean energy generation, 100 percent waste water treated on site and advanced daylight harvesting.
The electric vehicle pilot project at City Hall will be the next stop with both car share and city vehicles in the program. We will walk through the planned Resource Conservation District at Civic Center on our way to UN Plaza passing the Federal Building, which is the first naturally ventilated office building on the West Coast since the invention of air conditioning. The building is also an example of how building design can help slash emissions of greenhouse gases.
We will proceed down the emerging arts and innovation district of Central Market Street visiting multiple local arts groups such as art and technology collective, Gray Area Foundation for the Arts, and cultural avant garde organization, Burning Man Project. The 5M innovation complex will be the next stop with short interviews with developer Forest City and leaders from resident organizationTechShop, Hub Soma and Intersection for the Arts. Our tour will continue through the Yuerba Buena Gardens area including the Center for the Arts, the SF Museum of Modern Art, including a quick chat with the W Hotel Manager about his building, which is one of the first LEED Silver for existing buildings in the world.
Our final stop is the gallery at the San Francisco Planning + Urban Research Association‘s LEED Silver headquarters.

Nurses are constantly challenged with trying to balance the time they spend on direct patient care, assessment and surveillance with documentation. In the ICU the challenge is even greater because patients are more critical, require more surveillance, and are connected to more medical devices that require more frequent documentation. Med-surg is equally challenging because there are more patients to care for and therefore just as many vital signs to collect. Manual transcription and entry into the EMR is simply not the best use of nursing time; especially when there is another option – medical device connectivity.
Medical device connectivity improves workflow because data from connected devices is AUTOMATICALLY sent to the EMR. Device connectivity simply allows nurses to focus on what they do best – care for their patients. And there’s more. Device connectivity does more than just recovers nursing hours. It also:
* Increases staff productivity
* Reduces charting errors
* Increases adoption of the EMR
* Provides real time data to the patients record for improved decision making
* Helps qualify for meaningful use criteria and
* Improves overall patient care and safety

Combine harvester and a tractor with a grain cart are equipped with an autonomous control system by Raven Industries who are showcasing some of their autonomous agricultural solutions at the Farm Progress show in Boone, IA, on August 31, 2022.
To address human and economic resource shortages, they are utilizing autonomy, wireless connectivity, sub-inch GPS accuracy, sensor technology, data-based information, control and guidance systems, and more to make existing farm tractors with grain carts more efficient. Here, farm equipment has been retrofitted to add autonomous control from a smart tablet. With a single button push, tractors pulling grain carts can be summoned into precise alignment and movement next to a moving harvester to increase safety and efficiency and reduce spillage. Autonomous equipment, equipped with sensors, cameras, and specialized controls, can operate in a field where other operators work and recognize fields not yet harvested and harvested. The black OMNiPOWER 3200 is an autonomous driverless cab-less applicator spreader, 120-food boom sprayer, and air seeder programed or controlled by a smart tablet. Its safety systems allow it to work in occupied fields. The four-wheel hydraulic drive and steer systems can utilize front, rear, or four-wheel steering to turn on a dime. USDA media by Lance Cheung.
